Alexander V. Kozin (BA in Translation, Institute of Foreign Languages, Moscow, USSR, 1986; MA in Communication Theory, Suffolk University, Boston, USA, 1995; PhD in Speech Communication/Philosophy of Communication, SIUC, 2002; MSC in Communication Therapy, KU Leuven, Belgium, 2004; ABD in Philosophy/Phenomenology, Freie Universitaet Berlin, 2013) was as of recently Honorary Research Fellow at the Centre for Literature and Philosophy, University of Sussex, UK. From 2004 to 2010, he participated in post-doctoral international research project “The Microsociology of Criminal Defense Proceedings: A Comparative Study” which was carried out with FU Berlin, Germany. The project culminated in co-authored book “Criminal Defence and Procedure: Comparative Ethnographies in the Contexts of the United Kingdom, Germany, and the United States of America” (Palgrave Macmillan, 2010). His areas of specialization include phenomenology, semiotics, ethnography, and communication studies. His most recent areas of interest have been phenomenology (xenology), law, translation, literature, and visual communication. He published in Law and Social Inquiry, Semiotica, Text and Talk, Janus Head, Discourse Studies, International Journal for the Semiotics of Law, Law and Critique, Across Languages and Cultures, National Identity and other academic journals. He is author of “Consecutive Interpreting. An Interdisciplinary Study” (Palgrave Macmillan, 2017), “Andrei Tarkovsky’s Mythopoetics” (Paideia, 2020), and “Andrei Tarkovsky. Philosophical Illuminations” (Paideia, 2022). Currently, he is working on two book projects:  “A Phenomenological Ethnography of Play. The Case of Playmobil” (pending 2023) and “On the Exceptional Status of Alien Modalities in Husserl’s Phenomenology.”
